After playing Rocky Balboa and John J. Rambo, It’s fair to say that Sylvester Stallone has remained in impeccable shape throughout his acting career. At the age of 76 yearsthe legendary actor has slowed down a bit since his peak, but it seems like exercise is still a big part of his life.
He himself talks a lot on Instagram about the “crossroads moments” in his life and career where he felt like he was facing insurmountable obstacles. In addition to being rejected because of a big movie before Rocky… In a new post on his Instagram account, he shared a video in which he talks about the benefits of exercise for his mental health and how exercise has helped him achieve his goals. “I’ve been thinking more and more on the exercise side,” he told his followers. “It’s more than just narcissism or ‘Look at me, I want to brag about this and that.’ I have no doubt that if you don’t feel good and strong, or you’re competing, or if you remind yourself of how you used to be, that affects everything.”

Stallone goes on to talk about how working out and feeling physically better helped him focus on his goals. “It’s not about living in the gym,” he says, “it’s about finding something that gets the blood flowing through the body. This will affect your mind, self-confidence, and optimism. That’s why when people get sick, they only have one dream: to feel better. And when you’re not feeling sick, there are 10,000 things they want. When you’re so distracted and want so many things, it’s hard for any of them to come to you.
“You have to be focused, laser focused, on a specific target. Can you imagine if I shoot ten targets and start shooting at them? You won’t hit any of them. But if you hold a steady target and you can focus on it repeatedly, you will give. It all comes down to one thing: feeling good about your physical condition. Because, man, once that starts to wear off, you’ll feel like you’re out of breath.”
Stallone, who won’t be in Creed III, will play Barney Ross in The Expendables 4, which will be released later this year, and Stakar Ogord in Guardians of the Galaxy III.
