Help fund collective preventive actions for aging well
As part of the Health and Social Action Policy, the Guyana General Social Security Fund is launching a call for projects Which aims to develop projects to prevent the loss of independence for retirees who live in their own homes or in residential homes.
1- Objectives:
- Inform, advise and support retirees most vulnerable due to age, geographic and family isolation,
- Develop group preventive actions on the topics of good aging,
- strengthening social ties,
- Contribute to the pensioners’ life plan,
- Promote local initiatives and partnerships in favor of good aging.
2 – Fixed Themes:
- Health prevention is implemented in the form of workshops (falling, nutrition, memory, appropriate physical activities, assistance to physical caregivers),
- Social connection (intergenerational, social visits, entertainment, well-being, cooking, knowledge transfer, social and cultural activities, etc.)
- Introduction to digital (prevention course, etc.)
- Innovative measures (road safety, stage, etc.) on one of the measures for aging the well
- Housing and the living environment (information on arrangements, housing, housing-related issues, and support for retirees in their planning procedures)
- Fighting nutritional deficiencies (for a healthy diet at a lower cost)
3- Conditions for allocation and eligibility:
Any project leader (associations, CCAS, local authorities, public institutions, social and cultural centers, profit or not-for-profit structures) can submit a file, once they have obtained approvals or permits from the competent authorities for the realization of the project.
Project leaders must:
- seeking to involve partners located in the territory and responding to the municipality’s local needs or problems identified;
- Seek support or co-financing from other funders: communities, authorities, foundations (supplementary pension funds) or other social organizations and get complementarities with other local actors.
4- A new funding coordination body:
A new body called the “Funders’ Conference”, created in 2017, can be called upon to assist project promoters in implementing their project.
Examination of applications can, at the discretion of other deliberative bodies, provide support that can allow financing of 100% of the cost of the operation with other funding sources requested.
5- Concerned Audience:
- – Independent retirees (subject to public order and self-employed) who live at home or in housing.
- People weakened by geographic or family isolation or by some kind of instability.
6. CGSS Financing Conditions for Guyana:
The funding agreement for the requested grant is subject to an assessment of the suitability of the project.
Eligible files are examined by the Health and Social Work Committee of the Guyana General Social Security Fund.
Since the grants are optional, denial decisions are not subject to appeal.
The allocation of subsidies is formalized through the conclusion of a financial agreement that determines the term of financing, the amount of assistance provided and the terms of its payment.
7 – Practical information
The application file (Annex 1) can be downloaded from the CGSS Guyane website.
The project leader must comply with the list of documents (Annex 2) that must be submitted before submitting his file.
The application file must be signed by the legal representative and the accounting documents must be certified, accurate and signed by the association treasurer or auditor.
